19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
